What advice can you offer to people who suffer from their own thoughts? For example, I feel like I'm constantly stuck in negative thought-loops about myself, about everything from body image to if I even have a likable personality. These thoughts, to me, hold basis in reality, coming from observations and facts so they are hard, and sometimes seemingly impossible, to dismiss. Many have urged me to lie and 'fake it till you make it' but that just seems unhealthy to me, depression or no.

I wouldn’t agree that you are so much suffering from your thoughts in general as much as you are trying to acclimate yourself to an extremely acute sensitivity and greater intellectual capacity.  You’re interpreting a myriad of sensory phenomena and considering so many factors while trying to organize an effective strategy to remain secure and exist efficiently.  Focus less on a completely fail safe strategy (because it’s impossible) and more on persistence.  Recognize the difference between the fear of a worse case scenario and the scenario actually taking place, you can’t react to possibilities, they’re still only an idea.  There is opportunity between you and that which you fear taking place, to steer direction to a more desirable outcome.

Intelligence and anxiety go hand in hand, but so do intelligence and empowerment, all depending on the will to educate oneself, persist, refine, and create.  Don’t forget that feeling insecure to an extent is rational, only denial yields the self destructive complacency that we often falsely believe we desire.
